Can I Color or Bleach a Wig?

A common question people have is whether or not they can color or bleach a wig. The short answer is yes, but there are some things to keep in mind before doing so. We recommend you only do this on human hair wigs. Synthetic hair cannot be colored or bleached as the chemicals may damage the hair.

Coloring or bleaching a wig can be a time-consuming process, especially if you're doing it yourself. If you're unsure of what you're doing or don't have much experience, it may be best to leave the process to a professional stylist who is familiar with wig care or call the Clairol Hotline.

Keep in mind that bleaching a wig can be a bit more complicated than coloring it, as it involves removing the color from the hair rather than only adding a new color.

Coloring or bleaching your wig can add a personal touch but you may want to look over tutorials or seek a professional before attempting the process. It is also important to make sure your wig is made of human hair fibers and not synthetic. With a bit of research and following directions you can transform your wig to match your desired style.
